This project has extensively expanded the existing centre at Wollongong Hospital through a combination of a new build and refurbishment works.
Project information
The $14 million project was funded by $12 million from the Australian Government's Health and Hospitals Fund, and $2 million from the NSW Government.
The main construction works commenced on site in February 2012 and works were completed in June 2013. The Centre responds to the growing demand for cancer services, providing a quality, networked service and capacity to meet the needs of the region in the future.
Scope
The project delivered:
- a third radiotherapy bunker at Wollongong Hospital
- installation of a third linear accelerator
- expansion of chemotherapy treatment places from 11 to 17
- outpatient clinics and consultation area
- day oncology, haematology and therapies
- waiting and reception space
- clinical trials areas
- 14 new car spaces staff
- storage and support areas.
