The $81.9 million project was funded through $40.9 million from the NSW Government, $40 million from the Commonwealth Government under the Health and Hospitals Fund, as well as $1 million from the Mid North Coast Local Health District.
Project information
The Kempsey Hospital Redevelopment recognises the unique healthcare needs of the community and provides health services required to support the region into the future.
Scope
The project delivered:
- new main entrance and front-of house services
- new and expanded Emergency Department
- new emergency medical unit
- establishment of an integrated community care centre
- new medical imaging department
- new acute inpatient unit
- new and expanded high dependency and coronary care unit
- new operating theatres and expanded day surgery unit
- major expansion of renal dialysis services and establishing a new renal training unit
- major expansion of oral health services
- new selected clinical support services
- investment of several primary healthcare and community services with particular focus areas including:
- Aboriginal health
- health promotion
- chronic and complex care management
- family and children's services
- drug and alcohol services
- enhanced discharge planning and care coordination
- hospital avoidance programs.
