Narrabri Hospital Redevelopment

The project began in January 2010 and was completed in June 2012. During construction, the existing hospital was able to continue to deliver health services for the Narrabri community. 

Scope

The project delivered: 

• new facilities for inpatient beds
• emergency department
• birthing suite and operating theatre
• a total of 34 beds, including 24 overnight acute beds, 4 overnight sub-acute beds and 6 day stay beds
• co-located and integrated primary and community health services, including additional consultation/treatment rooms
• NSW Ambulance Station
• two GP/Visiting Specialist consultation rooms, as well as a procedure room
• a dedicated mental health safe room in the emergency department
• two special care rooms for use by palliative care patients, and a negative pressure room for the treatment of infectious patients
• radiology department including a CT Scanner and X-Ray
• staff accommodation including 2 two-bedroom units and a four-bedroom house
• pathology and blood bank services
• landscaped garden areas for patients and an Aboriginal garden.
