The total project cost was $261 million (including the second bunker fit out). Construction commenced in February 2008 and completed in March 2011.
Project information
The Orange Hospital includes:
- a new tertiary mental health
- radiotherapy facilities and oral health facilities
- the refurbishment of buildings including Ward 18, Ward 19, the Canobolas Building and Amaroo Building.
Private sector involvement includes the facility management and delivery of ancillary non-clinical services of the Bathurst campus.
The facility complements the heritage character of the existing buildings and successfully integrates the new services in a series of low-rise structures intended to seamlessly integrate with the picturesque Bloomfield Campus.
Scope
The project delivered:
- emergency, general medical and surgical services including orthopaedics and gynaecology
- intensive care and high dependency unit
- coronary care unit including interventional cardiology
- maternity, neonatal and paediatrics
- renal dialysis
- breast screen
- cancer care centre including radiotherapy and chemotherapy
- acute mental health services, including child and adolescent mental health
- rehabilitation services
- 172 beds, with an additional 10 beds in the sub-acute unit (under a separate Commonwealth funding program)
- 59 day-only beds/chairs, with an additional 8 dental chairs.
