Project overview
Reserve Rd, St Leonards NSW 2065
Status: Completed
The $1.127 billion redevelopment of Royal North Shore Hospital responds to growing demands, locally and state-wide, by creating purpose built, dynamic and contemporary facilities to support high standards of healthcare.
Project information
The project includes:
- the already completed Kolling Building (research and education facility)
- Chatswood Community Health Centre
- Royal North Shore Community Health Centre
- a new acute services building
- part refurbishment of the existing Douglas Building
- a new car park with 350 extra parking spaces

- a new Clinical Services Building (CSB), which houses the burns unit, women's and children's health, and mental health.
The centrepiece of the redevelopment is the acute services building, which officially opened in December 2012. Now fully operational and after completing the inbound relocation of services, the demolition of the former main hospital buildings (Building 1 & 2) enabled the construction of the new multi-storey car park.

- outpatient (ambulatory care) centre
- new Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre located close to related services, including additional chemotherapy chairs
- additional renal dialysis chairs

- eighteen new operating theatres, in addition to theatres in the existing Douglas Building
- capacity for a 58-bed Intensive Care Unit with single rooms
- range of retail and dining areas for staff and patients
