The $32 million project was funded from the Australian Government's Health and Hospitals Fund, the NSW Government, and a generous contribution of $1.115 million by the local community from fundraising efforts.
$0.5 million was made available to fund the Shellharbour Car Park.
Project information
This project established a new purpose built regional cancer centre at Nowra, adjacent to the existing Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital site. Construction commenced in March 2012 and was completed in July 2013.
In addition to the main Shoalhaven Regional Cancer Centre project, associated car parking works were undertaken to enhance car parking for visitors and patients at the Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital. Construction commenced in April 2012 and was completed in May 2012. The car park provides formal parking for over 124 cars.
Scope
The project delivered:
- a linear accelerator
- 2 radiotherapy bunkers
- range of associated specialist medical equipment
- 14 chemotherapy treatment spaces
- patient consultation areas
- waiting and reception space
- clinical trial facilities
- patient information and support services
- 10 bedroom patient and carer accommodation facility
- visitor parking for seven cars and dedicated parking with boom gate access for 55 cars (including accessible) for patients, carers and staff
- additional car parking spaces.
