Under the COAG funded Sub Acute Bed Program a 16 bed unit was built at the St George Hospital alongside the existing adult mental health acute inpatient unit.
Project information
The facility provides integrated care with a seamless transition from acute to subacute, community to sub-acute, and from sub-acute back into the community.
Construction commenced in July 2012 and the project was completed in September 2013. The unit is adjacent to the existing adult acute inpatient unit and shares reception and waiting facilities. The design has been coordinated with the site master plan, in order to ensure the project is compatible with the future additions to St George Hospital.
Scope
The project delivered:
- 16 inpatient beds, including one bariatric bed
- an activity room, lounge and dining rooms
- secure courtyards for outdoor therapy
- ancillary accommodation including consultation rooms, meeting rooms and staff offices.
