About Go4Fun
Combing expert health coaching and interactive learning, Go4Fun supports the care children and families already receive from health professionals and helps families put health advice into action.
The program focuses on chronic disease prevention and positive behaviour change, supporting families to build the knowledge, confidence and skills to live healthier lives at home.
For clinicians, Go4Fun is a trusted and reliable way to help families with primary school-aged children make healthier choices around food, activity, and wellbeing.
Health topics
Each session focuses on a different topic, including:
- budget-friendly healthy eating
- physical activity
- mindfulness and mental wellbeing
- behaviour change strategies
- sleep hygiene
- managing recreational screen time.
Go4Fun is suitable for families seeking help in these areas. It is not suitable for specialist weight management but can complement clinician-led therapies.
How it works
Go4Fun offers 2 streams to suit different levels of need:
- App: The Better Health App is available for 6 months. Families can access interactive learning, videos, recipes and practical resources to explore at their own pace.
- App and coaching: Families get access to the Better Health App plus up to 8 health coaching appointments with an expert health coach, such as a dietitian or exercise physiologist, for extra guidance and support.
Families can choose which way they would like to participate.
Who delivers Go4Fun?
Go4Fun is a NSW Health program delivered by the Better Health Company. Better Health Company health coaches are tertiary-qualified health professionals including dietitians, exercise physiologists, psychologists, and social workers. All Health coaches hold Health Coach Training Certificates and are accredited with HCANZA (Health Coaches Australia and New Zealand Association) so they are experts in behaviour change and habit formation.
Families can also access free NAATI-qualified interpreter services at every stage of the program.
Aboriginal health coaches are also available for Aboriginal families.
Who can join?
Any NSW family with primary school-aged children can join .
Go4Fun is designed for families with children aged 4.5 to 13 years who would benefit from support to improve nutrition, physical activity levels, sleep and other modifiable risk factors.
Children who are under a healthy weight (below the 5th BMI percentile for their age and gender) may not be eligible. This helps ensure the program is safe and suitable for all participants.
