A Second Walk-in Vaccination Clinic for 5-11-year-olds this Saturday
Following the success of the recent walk-in vaccination clinic for children only, the Far West LHD will again open its vaccination clinic for children aged 5-11 years on Saturday, 29 January.
The first children-only walk-in vaccination clinic attracted 55 children aged 5-11 years for their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and attracted praise from those attending.
'Many parents said the clinic was very well run and very welcoming and accommodating for their children to get their vaccination,' said Mrs Olivia Sice, COVID-19 Clinic Coordinator, Far West LHD.
'Many were particularly pleased with the way our staff help ease any concerns of parents and helped the children remain calm and at ease during the entire process,' she said.
'The use of virtual reality goggles by the children during the vaccination clinic was very well received by them!'
The clinic, located in the Musicians Club auditorium (Crystal Street), will be open between 10am and 1pm on Saturday.
This clinic is set up for children only, and any appointments that have already been booked for children will also be accommodated on the day. Adult walk-ins or appointments will not be accepted as the focus of this clinic is on children.
Mrs Sice said: 'We want to make this process as easy and comfortable as possible for kids and parents.' Evidence shows getting your child vaccinated will help protect them against severe illness and possible long-term effects from COVID-19. It will also help reduce community transmission.
Vaccination protects your friends, family and the community, including vulnerable people of all ages.
The Pfizer vaccine is recommended for children aged 5-11 in Australia. They will receive two doses of the vaccine 8 weeks apart.
Talk to your GP if you have any questions or concerns about COVID-19 vaccination for your child. If your child has underlying health conditions, consult their specialist care team.
Parents unable to attend this Saturday are encouraged to book a vaccination appointment for their child as soon as possible. You can book an appointment at a FWLHD vaccination clinic, or with a general practitioner or community pharmacy via the COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic Finder Parental consent is required prior to vaccination.
