Balranald Hospital Auxiliary ongoing support to Local Health Service
The Balranald MPS has had over $11,000 worth of new equipment donated to it in the last 12 months thanks to the hard working volunteers of the Balranald Hospital Auxiliary.
Items purchased for the Balranald MPS include a new emergency cart, blanket warmer, several wheelchairs, a Palliative Care mattress and other items for the residents to use in the aged care area.
The equipment has made many of the nursing staff tasks easier and the residents have especially enjoyed the speakers to listen to music, etc, in the lounge area. The blanket warmer has been very welcomed in the Emergency Department by the staff and patients alike.
Auxiliary President, Mrs Heather Mitchell, said the Auxiliary and its members were very pleased to support the staff and patients at Balranald MPS.
'The community support we receive for our fundraising activities is fantastic, with donations to our raffles and buying tickets,' she said.
The Auxiliary has had to curtail most of its fundraising events this year due to COVID-19 restrictions but hopes to still run its biggest fundraiser, the Christmas Stall and Raffle. 'That's our biggest for the year,' said Mrs Mitchell.
A major item the Auxiliary is aiming to acquire for the Balranald MPS is a double gopher. 'That's a long time plan to get one for the residents to use for their outings. Someone else has got one and said it's great and we'd love to be able to do that.'
Mrs Mitchell said the Auxiliary's success was due to its dedicated members. 'They do a lot and I'd personally like to acknowledge them - along with all those who support our fundraising.'
The Balranald MPS would like to thank the Hospital Auxiliary for the purchases and the ongoing support they provide to the MPS.
'The support of the Balranald Hospital Auxiliary has been invaluable to the day to day running of the MPS and we look forward to the continued support,' said Mr Craig Oxford, Acting Health Services Manager.
