New Chief Executive at Far West Local Health District
The Far West Local Health District (FWLHD) has welcomed the appointment of Mr Umit Agis to the position of Chief Executive on 13 January 2020.
Chair of the Far West Local Health District Board, The Hon. Dr Andrew Refshauge, said Mr Agis is an experienced health leader across multiple jurisdictions and was most recently Director of Strategy and Clinical Operations, Country Health South Australia, and prior to that was the Group General Manager for a number of state-wide services for Tasmanian Health.
'He brings a strong background in clinical management and operations, will be an excellent leader for FWLHD and we are very pleased that Umit has accepted the role,' said Dr Refshauge.
Mr Agis said he was very excited and felt privileged to take on the role of Chief Executive of the Far West.
'I look forward to working with everyone in FWLHD and our partner organisations to continue to provide the highest level of care for our communities.'
'Our patients and communities will be at the centre of all our planning. In order to provide best possible care we must also ensure that we have the systems in place that promote staff well-being.
'My vision is of a health service that is future oriented which aims to provide care closer to patients' homes, and is committed improving the wellbeing of the community through the innovative use of technology,' said Mr Agis.
'It is a service that nurtures learning and promotes leadership at every level of the organisation, and empowers staff, patients and families through engaging them in the co-creation of responsive and accountable service delivery models that are designed to address current and emerging community needs.'
Dr Refshauge also acknowledged and thanked Mr Brad Astill, who had been acting in the role of Chief Executive for the last three months and has returned to his role as Executive Director, System Performance Support in the Ministry of Health.
