Spanner in the Works: Dareton Men in a Shed Promoting Health Checks
Dareton Men in a Shed members and staff at Dareton Primary Health are again busily preparing for a very special event to promote men's and women's health in our region.
'Spanner in the Works' Men's and Women's Health Checks will be held on Wednesday 23 October 2019 from 12 noon to 4pm. The event will commence with a sausage sizzle and refreshments prior to the workshops starting.
Qualified primary and allied health staff will run various health stations in the workshop, following the guidelines in 'Spanner in the Works' program which was designed along similar lines to taking your car in for service at your local mechanic.
This event was such a huge success last year and this year the 'Men in a Shed' want their wives and partners to be included.
Each health station will focus on a different aspect of men's and women's health, including a Chassis Check (waistline and diet), Oil Pressure (Blood Pressure Checks), Lube Circulatory System (BGL or blood sugar levels), Battery Check (physical fitness and activity levels), Exhaust (Breathing/Air intake/QUIT Smoking Cessation program, if needed), Shock Absorbers (emotional/mental health awareness), Duco (skin health), Fuel Additives (alcohol consumption), Spark Plugs (testes), Extractors (bowel health), Fuel Injectors (Continence/Prostate health) and oral health and women's health checks as relevant.
The event is free and men and women of all ages are welcome to attend. To register your interest in this event or for more information, please contact Margie Murphy or Raelene Gibson at Dareton Primary Health on +61 3 5021 7200.
