Statement - Screening of Arrivals in Broken Hill from Adelaide at BH Airport
The Far West Local Health District is pleased to report that the COVID-19 screening of arrivals from South Australia on a Rex flight from Adelaide this morning at the Broken Hill Airport went smoothly for everyone involved.
The COVID-19 screening was part of NSW Health's response to the emergence of the Parafield COVID-19 cluster in Adelaide.
All 12 passengers on the Rex flight were met at the airport terminal and screened individually by Far West LHD staff. This included temperature and symptom checking, and each person was asked if they had been to any locations of concern in South Australia during the period identified on the SA Health website.
The screening process was well managed, and contact details of each passenger were recorded. There were no passengers who had been to any of the current locations of concern.
Far West LHD Chief Executive, Mr Umit Agis, said screening progressed very smoothly and with the full cooperation of all those involved.
'It is very pleasing that each of the passengers were reportedly very understanding of the screening requirements and very receptive. This was a very quick action on behalf of our staff as the Adelaide cluster emerged. The process went very smoothly and the co-operation of the public is important as we all continue to work to keep the community safe,' he said.
The LHD will continue to screen all flight passengers arriving from Adelaide to Broken Hill and screening will also occur for bus services arriving from Adelaide. This will continue until further notice.
Anyone who arrives in Broken Hill from South Australia, by any mode of transport, is asked to monitor for even the mildest of symptoms and get tested if they appear. They must remain in isolation until a negative result is received, in line with routine advice for all people in NSW. People are reminded to check for updates available on the SA Health - Contact Tracing webpage, particularly in relation to venues of concern.
Anyone arriving in Broken Hill from Adelaide can seek screening and testing at the Drive Thru clinic at Broken Hill Community Health Centre (Crystal Street) Monday to Friday from 9am to 11am, and also at the Thomas Street COVID-19 clinic, seven days a week from 10am to 8pm. Screening is also available at all of the Far West LHD's facilities.
