About our arts program
Connection with the arts and culture offers a beneficial impact on health and wellbeing and contributes to achieving health equity across communities. The Arts in Health Program helps to make clinical environments more welcoming and engaging with meaningful artist-led experiences.
The Arts and Culture Working Group for the Ryde Hospital Redevelopment was established in April 2022. It has representatives from Ryde Hospital staff and the local community, with the group informing the direction for arts integration at the new hospital.
The central concept for the Arts in Health Strategy is the theme ‘togetherness and unification’.
The Arts in Health Program will:
- strengthen connection to Country, celebrating the healing and ceremonial qualities of the Blue Gum High Forest
- celebrate the diverse and connected community of Ryde
- pay tribute to the heritage legacy of Ryde Hospital and its ongoing service to the community.
The redevelopment team, in partnership with Northern Sydney Local Health District, are currently collaborating on the implementation phase of the Arts in Health Strategy for the redevelopment.
