Robotic milestone marked
Nepean Hospital has celebrated a decade’s long relationship with robotic surgery, marking the 10-year anniversary of the installation of the state-of-the-art da Vinci robot.

Nepean was the first public hospital in NSW to pioneer the innovative da Vinci robot technology. During it’s time at the hospital the device has performed over 1,000 robot-assisted procedures (including prostate, bladder, kidney and ureter), which have resulted in quicker recovery times and safer surgery for our patients.
Urology Fellow, Jonathan Kam says the technology has helped Nepean become a powerhouse in the health care industry.
“The robotics program at Nepean Hospital is truly cutting edge and the most advanced in the Australian Public Health system. Urology trainees from across the country come here to learn from some of the best urological surgeons, and with technology like the da Vinci robot, allows us to deliver the best health care for our patients,” says Jonathan.
In honour of the incredible milestone, Device Technologies, proprietor of the da Vinci robot technology recently visited Nepean Hospital to celebrate the long-standing relationship.
