The new Somerset Cottage childcare has officially opened
Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith joined Kay Hyman, NBMLHD Chief Executive and Peter Collins, Chairperson NBMLHD to officially open the new Somerset Cottage on 7 July 2020.
The official opening follows a recent smoking ceremony that was undertaken by Darug Elder, Chris Tobin to cleanse the unit when construction was finalised.
The new childcare centre is part of the NSW Government’s $1B Nepean Redevelopment which is delivering a major expansion and upgrade of hospital and community-based services.
The new purpose-built centre has the capacity for 68 children and was built with input from staff and parents to create a fun, safe and welcoming environment.
The new centre features generous amounts of natural light and a colourful fresh outdoor playground.
The relocation process was carefully planned to ensure a smooth transition into the new facility and the service was able to remain open for staff and their families throughout the transition period.
