Hospital visitor guidelines
Generally Nepean Blue Mountains LHD follows the NSW Health guide to healthcare visitation:
- each patient can have 2 visitors per day
- Visitors must:
- wear a surgical mask correctly at all times while in the facility (if aged over 12 years)
- not have tested positive to COVID-19 within the last 10 days
- not have tested positive to another respiratory infection in the last 7 days
- not have symptoms of COVID-19 or other respiratory infections
- not be a high risk contact in the last 14 days of someone who has COVID-19
- not have arrived from overseas in the past 7 days
In areas with patients at higher risk or receiving higher levels of care, or in the case of other local concerns, there may be additional restrictions and precautions.
See below for different visitor guidelines for particular areas. We encourage patients and families to speak directly with relevant staff for more information.
Women can have 2 nominated people in the Birth Unit. These must be the same people throughout the admission.
Parents or carers are welcome 24 hours. One parent or carer can stay at the beside overnight.
A maximum of 2 people, including siblings, are permitted at the bedside during visiting hours.
One visitor or support person permitted for critically unwell patients, vulnerable patients and patients receiving palliative care.
Our staff talk directly to families and loved ones about specific arrangements, including virtual visits and in-person visits for some patients.
Nepean Cancer Care Centre permits essential carers only who must be 16 years or over.
Patients are limited to visits from parents and a support person. This must be the same person throughout their admission.
Two visitors (and accompanying children) are welcome between 8am and 8pm.

Portland Tabulam Health Centre
Additional COVID-19 precautions and restrictions apply to aged care facilities.
All visitors will be required to show proof that they are fully vaccinated, and to confirm that they have no cold or flu symptoms and have not been recently exposed to COVID-19.
Visitors must also scan the Service NSW QR Code at the entrance to this facility.
Transport and parking
You may be able to access free or low-cost transport and subsidised taxi fares to help you get to and from health services.

Parking
There are dedicated mobility parking spaces available across the Nepean Blue Mountains LHD. Please correctly display the relevant NSW Government or other Australian government-issued mobility parking permit when using these car spaces.
Free off-street parking is available at most of our facilities including Lithgow Hospital and Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital.

Limited parking may also be available on surrounding streets.
Smoke-free policy
All our hospitals and locations are smoke-free. Smoking anywhere on the grounds may result in a $300 fine. View our policy.
