Breastfeeding support at Nepean Blue Mountains LHD
Before your baby arrives you can access support through:
- your midwife
- Nepean hospital antenatal clinic
- Blue Mountains hospital maternity
- Lithgow hospital maternity
- a clinical midwifery consultant in infant feeding
After your baby arrives you can access support through:
- your midwife
- your child and family health nurse child and family health feeding clinics, you can book an appointment through your child and family health nurse
- a clinical midwifery consultant in infant feeding
- Nepean hospital postnatal
- Blue Mountains hospital maternity
- Lithgow hospital maternity
Contact your midwife or local hospital to arrange an appointment with a clinic or consultant.
It is important to book into a breastfeeding or antenatal class early in pregnancy as they are very popular and fill fast. Your support person is also welcome to attend.
If you are not in the Nepean Blue Mountains LHD area, please contact your child and family health nurse to find out where your relevant feeding clinic is located.
Support is also available through the Australian Breastfeeding Association (helpline 1800 686 268).

Breastfeeding smartphone app
The Nepean Blue Mountains LHD 'Breastfeeding How-To' app is a tool for learning more about breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or your partner is pregnant, you can enter your due date to get relevant alerts, now and once your baby is born based on age and development.
