If you haven't yet moved into an aged care facility
Couples
If you are couple living in the same retirement village unit on the same contract, you are eligible to apply for aged care accommodation payments if:
- you have not already received part-payment of your prescribed component, and
- you are both moving to an aged care facility.
Individuals
If you are living in the retirement village unit on an individual contract, you are eligible to apply for aged care accommodation payments if you have not already received part-payment of your prescribed component.
If you moved into an aged care facility after 1 January 2021
Couples
If you lived in the retirement village unit as a couple on the same contract, you are eligible to apply for aged care accommodation payments if:
- you have not already received part-payment of your prescribed component, and
- you both moved to an aged care facility.
Individuals
If you lived in the retirement village unit on an individual contract and you have not already received part-payment of your prescribed component, you are eligible to apply for aged care accommodation payments.
If you moved into an aged care facility before 1 January 2021
If you moved into aged care before 1 January 2021, you are not eligible to receive the accommodation payment.
You may still be eligible to apply for an exit entitlement payment under an order once the prescribed period has been satisfied.
