First home buyers who build a new home or purchase a brand new or substantially renovated property can receive a $10,000 grant.
How to apply
You can apply for the First Home Owner (New Home) Grant through your bank or financial institution when you’re arranging finance.
You'll need to provide documents to prove your identity and contracts for your property purchase when you apply.
The price limit covers the land, building contract, and any construction changes, and the package must include an eligible building contract.
Eligible properties include houses, townhouses, apartments, units, and off-the-plan purchases.
A substantially renovated home is one that has been extensively rebuilt, has not been lived in after the renovation, and has not been sold since the work was completed.
If you are purchasing an existing home, you can't apply for the First Home Owner (New Home) Grant.
You may be eligible for another home buyer assistance program. Use the eligibility tool below to find out.
