Creating a new Certificate of Compliance or Certificate of Inspection
How the Certificate of Compliance and Certificate of Inspection form works
The Certificate of Compliance or Certificate of Inspection form in BCNSW eCert supports different types of gasfitting work.
The form must be completed by the licensed gasfitter responsible for the work.
Some questions in the form may not apply to your work. You should only complete the sections that apply to the work you are certifying.
Compliance and regulation requirements
When signing up to BCNSW eCert, you agree to the terms and conditions, including that all information you provide in the portal is true and accurate. This includes your licence details.
Information provided in the certificate is reviewed and used by Building Commission NSW for compliance and regulatory purposes.
After the form has been submitted
Once the form has been submitted in the portal, a PDF copy of the certificate is automatically emailed to you and the property or vehicle owner. The certificate is also recorded by Building Commission NSW.
You’ll be able to access and manage all your submitted certificates within your BCNSW eCert account.
How gasfitters start a new certificate
Log into the BCNSW eCert portal
On the BCNSW eCert portal home page, you'll see tiles for all certificate types available. You must only submit certificates for work you are licensed to perform.
Select the gasfitting work tile

Review the displayed certification information
If this is the correct certificate, select Continue to proceed to the installation details page.

Select the type of work carried out in the installation details page
On the installation details page, select the type of work being carried out:
- New
- Alteration
- Extension
- Repair
You can select more than one work type, if applicable.

Enter the date the work commenced
You cannot select a date in the future, the work must have been completed when you submit this Certificate of Compliance or inspection.
Enter the description of the work carried out
Describe the work carried out in the description box. Provide a clear summary of the work completed.
For example:
- Installed a new LPG line for an outdoor kitchen.
Choose the type of installation
Select the type of installation that was carried out.
