Managing certificate applications in progress
View certificate applications in progress
The In progress tab includes:
- Drafts — certificate applications you have started but not submitted.
- Assigned to technician — certificate applications you have assigned to another technician to complete the required commissioning details.
Draft certificates and certificates assigned to a technician are automatically removed from the In progress tab if there is no activity for 30 days.
Once removed, the certificate cannot be recovered and you will need to create a new certificate.
Continue a draft certificate application
- In the In progress tab, find the draft application you want to continue.
- Select Edit next to the draft application.
- The application opens where you last saved it.
- Complete the remaining application details.
- Select Save and Continue at the bottom of each page. Your changes are not saved until you select Save and Continue.

Withdraw a draft certificate application
Withdraw a draft application only if you no longer need it. Withdrawing the application permanently deletes it and cannot be undone.
- In the In progress tab, find the draft application you want to withdraw.
- Select Withdraw next to the draft application.
- In the confirmation message, select Withdraw to permanently delete the application.
To cancel, close the confirmation message and return to the In progress tab.

Re-assign an application to another technician
If commissioning is not completed, or the assigned technician is incorrect or unavailable, you can re-assign the application to another technician.
In progress certificates with no activity for 30 days are automatically removed from the portal and cannot be recovered.
You can only nominate a medical gas technician who holds the required licence for the work and is already registered for BCNSW eCert.
- In the In progress tab, find the application you want to re-assign.
- Select Edit next to the application.
- In the Installation details window, review who the application is currently assigned to.
- Scroll to the bottom of the window and select Re-assign technician.
- Enter the licence number of the new technician.
- Select the correct technician from the search results.
- Select Re-assign to confirm.
The application is re-assigned to the selected technician. They will receive an email asking them to log into BCNSW eCert portal and complete the required commissioning details.
If the technician does not appear in the search results, they must register for BCNSW eCert before you can assign the application to them.
