Value the first step in your career
Value NSW’s Graduate Program offers a unique opportunity to launch your property valuation career while making a real impact, gaining hands-on experience, and supporting the NSW Government and Valuer General.
Launch your property valuation career in a role that combines public impact, professional growth,
and real-world experience, supporting the NSW Government and the NSW Valuer General.
Value NSW’s Graduate Program is a career-launching opportunity for those passionate about
property, valuation, economics, and public service.
Value NSW, part of the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, provides valuation,
economic and property advice and services to the NSW Valuer General and NSW Government.
Each year, the agency completes around 2.7 million land valuations across NSW, representing more
than $3 trillion in value. These valuations support the determination of council rates and land tax
assessments, generating more than $14 billion of revenue for the state.
Beyond land valuations, Value NSW provides:
- around $1 billion in compensation determinations for compulsory land acquisitions annually
- asset and special valuations for government clients managing more than $84 billion in assets
- property, valuation and economic services and advice to government agencies.
Now in its fourth year, the Value NSW Graduate Program has already supported 21 graduates, with
90% of eligible graduates, to date, securing ongoing roles within the agency.
In 2024, the program received more than 250 applications for nine spots in the program. This year,
the program is providing more opportunities, with at least six new graduates to be selected to join
the ranks of the state’s largest valuation employer.
To attract the country’s finest and brightest, NSW Valuer General Sally Dale and Value NSW Chief
Executive Officer Stewart McLachlan will visit universities across NSW, Queensland and Victoria
throughout August and September, engaging directly with students and promoting the program.
Value NSW Chief Executive Officer Stewart McLachlan said:
“This is more than a job. It’s a chance to make a real impact. At Value NSW you’ll work alongside
industry leaders in a world-class environment, with a departmental culture of belonging from day
one.
“We’re committed to helping our people grow into the next generation of top-tier valuation
professionals.”
NSW Valuer General Sally Dale said:
“This program plays a vital role in strengthening the public sector’s valuation capacity and
capability, supporting my role in overseeing the state's land valuation system to ensure a clear
separation between impartial land valuations and their use by government for rating and taxing.
“Valuation is a rewarding and intellectually stimulating career.
“You’ll work on a diverse range of properties—residential, commercial, industrial, and rural—
requiring both fieldwork and analytical office-based assessments. Whether values rise or fall,
valuers are always needed so there are strong career prospects in government, consultancy, or
private practice.”
Minister for Lands and Property Steve Kamper said:
“The Value NSW Graduate Program is a powerful investment in the future of our public service.
“It offers young professionals a unique opportunity to contribute to the state’s economic and social

first step toward shaping the future of New South Wales.”
