To better support you, the NSW Government has introduced a free and confidential Property Acquisition Support Line. You can call the Property Acquisition Support Line on 1300 089 551. The Support Line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
You can get up to five free face-to-face or phone sessions per person.
Eligibility for the Support Line
This service is available to all property owners, their families, tenants, commercial property and business owners, and employees affected by property acquisition. If you believe you'll be impacted by an infrastructure project but your property is NOT being acquired, please call the relevant project's community engagement team.
About the counsellors
The Support Line is delivered by a team of qualified psychologists and social workers. These counsellors can help you develop skills and tools to protect your emotional and psychological wellbeing during this challenging time. They are there to support your mental and emotional welfare.
Counselling is immediate, solution-oriented, and empowerment driven. Counsellors employ a combination of counselling and coaching techniques to help you with your immediate needs and into the future.
All counsellors are fully qualified and have access to a referral network of external organisations to provide long-term help.
Please note, they can’t answer practical or technical questions about the project, compensation, or relocation. To discuss these aspects of the project, get in touch with your acquisition support team. Or for general information about property acquisition in NSW, email the Centre for Property Acquisition or call 1300 029 146.
Privacy and confidentiality
All information provided during your calls and counselling sessions is strictly confidential. The only information the counsellor will ask you is the name of the department or agency
acquiring your property and the name of the project. They will not pass on your name or any other personal information. You can find the agency and project name in the Commencement Letter, also known as an Opening Letter, provided to you by a member of your acquisition team.
The Property Acquisition Support Line is operated independently of the project team or acquiring authority.
