Statement of Satisfactory Public Housing Tenancy
A statement of satisfactory tenancy shows a future real estate agent or landlord that you were a good tenant. Here's who is eligible and how to apply.
Understanding a Statement of Satisfactory Tenancy
We are committed to helping you move from public to private housing. One of the ways we do this is by providing a free Statement of Satisfactory Tenancy.
Before a real estate agent or private landlords accept someone as a tenant they want to see a reference. The Statement will show a future real estate agent or landlord that you were a good tenant.
The Statement includes:
- where you live or lived as a public housing tenant
- when your tenancy started
- when your tenancy ended, or current date if not ended
- if your tenancy was satisfactory.
How to request a Statement of Satisfactory Tenancy
Only the tenant (or former tenant) can request a Statement. Other household members cannot request a Statement.
To request a Statement complete the Application for a Statement of Satisfactory Tenancy form.
You can send the completed form to hcc-tenant-statements@facs.nsw.gov.au, take it your local Homes NSW office or post it.
It generally takes about 10 working days to process your application.
If you are eligible for a Statement, we will fax or post it to the fax number or postal address on your application form.
If you are not eligible for a Statement, we will write to you explaining our reasons.
If you lose or misplace your Statement you can contact your local Homes NSW office to ask for another copy.
Reviewing the decision
If you believe we have made a wrong decision, talk to your client service officer about your concerns. If you’re still not satisfied, you can ask to have the decision reviewed. To do this fill out the review of decision form (PDF 343.9KB).
You can access the form online or at your local Homes NSW office.
