Homelessness partnerships and agreements
Homelessness partnerships and agreements highlight initiatives and frameworks for improved and collaborative responses to reduce homelessness.
The Protocol for Homeless People in Public Places
The Protocol for Homeless People in Public Places guides government agencies, non-government organisations and private businesses to improve interactions with people experiencing homelessness. It ensures people are treated with dignity, respect, and without discrimination.
Help people transition to stable housing
The No Exits from Government Services into Homelessness Framework helps government agencies work together to reduce the risk of homelessness amongst people leaving government services. The Framework focuses on people with complex needs who are:
- leaving out-of-home care
- exiting correctional facilities, including youth justice services
- social housing tenants
- patients transitioning from healthcare settings
Support housing for people with mental health conditions
Safe, secure housing is essential for a person’s health and wellbeing. The Housing and Mental Health Agreement (HMHA 22) is a commitment from NSW Health and the Department of Communities and Justice to work together so people who live with mental health conditions have timely access to safe, secure and appropriate housing and mental health supports when they need them.
By working together, government and non-government agencies provide coordinated services to support tenancies, promote well-being, and help those at risk of, or experiencing homelessness.
