Tenant Community Fund

You can apply if you:

• over the age of 18

• are a public housing tenant, or

• live in an Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO) property managed by Homes NSW.

You cannot apply if you are a tenant of:

• a Community Housing Provider (CHP)

• an Aboriginal Community Housing Provider.

You can apply on your own, with other tenants, or together with a community group, not‑for‑profit organisation or local service.

How do I apply?

You can complete your application via our online form.

If your project requires purchasing equipment, please complete our Equipment form. 

If an organisation is sponsoring your project, they will need to fill out the Sponsor form. 

Alternatively, you can download and fill out the completed forms below and submit them to: tenantcommunityfund@homes.nsw.gov.au.

If you need help developing an idea or submitting your application, get in touch with your local tenant participation team for support. All submissions will be assessed against the eligibility and selection criteria outlined in the Program Guidelines.

When do applications close?

Applications will close once funding is fully allocated. Early applications are encouraged!  
You will hear back within three weeks once a complete application is received. 

What type of projects can be funded?

Projects could include:

• enhancing community garden spaces or small outdoor projects

• arts, music, craft or cultural activities

• skills‑sharing workshops (like cooking, sewing or digital skills)

• community events or gatherings

• youth or seniors’ activities

• local cultural celebrations, such as NAIDOC Week events

• shared items like BBQs, shade sails or gardening tools (with safe storage).

If your idea helps multiple tenants connect, feel included, or get involved in their community, we want to hear from you. Your idea does not need to be big or complicated. Small ideas can make a real difference.

Important things to know

Before you apply, please note:

• funding is one‑off only (not ongoing support)

• projects must benefit the wider tenant community

• tenants do not receive cash – Homes NSW buys approved items or services

• any equipment must be able to be stored safely

• projects must be completed within six months.
