In response to the devastating 2022 floods, the Community Resilience Grants Program was created to support long-term recovery across the Northern Rivers.
Thanks to a $1 million investment from the Reconstruction Authority, and in partnership with the Northern Rivers Community Foundation, 20 grassroots organisations received funding to deliver essential services, ranging from material aid and housing support to mental health care and social connection.
Pottsville Beach Neighbourhood Centre's story:
Along with offering local spaces that offered pratical help and human connection, they also developed a Budget Education Kit and Frontline Worker Training Package to reduce service dependency. Around 95 frontline workers participated in four Train-the-Trainer sessions, prioritising those supporting flood recovery.
When people know there's a place they can turn to for support, recovery feels possible.
