In response to the devastating 2022 floods, the Community Resilience Grants Program was created to support long-term recovery across the Northern Rivers.
Thanks to a $1 million investment from the Reconstruction Authority, and in partnership with the Northern Rivers Community Foundation, 20 grassroots organisations received funding to deliver essential services, ranging from material aid and housing support to mental health care and social connection.
Plan C's story:
Plan C delivered the Rising Together Series which incorporated 13 trauma-informed community gatherings across six Northern Rivers LGAs. These included two celebration events, six focused on food security resilience, one dedicated to connecting with Country and First Nations communities, and four aimed at strengthening communities through conflict management. A total of 225 people participated in the program.
We've shifted from raising awareness of risk to finding solutions and ways to live with what's happening together as a community.
