What's this about?

On 1 July 2018, the NSW Government released the Aboriginal Procurement Policy (APP) and the revised Aboriginal Participation in Construction (APIC) policy. The NSW Government is conducting a review of both policies.

The policies aim to support 3000 employment opportunities for Aboriginal people by 2021. The APP aims for Aboriginal owned businesses to be awarded at least 3 per cent of domestic contracts for goods and services, while the APIC policy requires 1.5 per cent of applicable construction project spend to be allocated to Aboriginal participation.

Both policies support the NSW Government plan for Aboriginal Affairs and OCHRE. They are key deliverables under the Aboriginal Economic Development Framework.
