Biodiversity Conservation Investment

Topic: Environment

The Office of Environment & Heritage seeks feedback on the Draft Biodiversity Conservation Investment Strategy 2017-2037 that will guide government investment in private land conservation.

What's this about?

A Draft Biodiversity Conservation Investment Strategy 2017-2037 has been prepared to guide the Biodiversity Conservation Trust to deliver a comprehensive private land conservation program.

This program is underpinned by government investment of $240 million over five years, with $70 million in ongoing annual funding, subject to performance review.

The draft strategy identifies priority investment areas across NSW, sets short and medium-term targets, and establishes principles to guide investment in private land conservation.

It will complement the NSW National Parks System Directions Statement that will guide the building of the state’s network of public conservation reserves and is also on public exhibition.

Together the two documents will work towards establishing an integrated protected area system across New South Wales.
