Draft Electoral Bill 2017

The Department of Premier and Cabinet invites feedback on the draft Electoral Bill 2017, which governs the conduct of State Parliamentary elections.

What's this about?

The draft Electoral Bill 2017 updates the Parliamentary Electorates and Elections Act 1912 to reflect contemporary electoral practices. It is intended to simplify, modernise and improve the conduct of elections in NSW.

The draft Electoral Bill implements recommendations made by the Joint Standing Committee on Electoral Matters following its inquiries into the State’s electoral legislation and the administration of the 2011 and 2015 State elections, as well as changes requested by the NSW Electoral Commission.
