Telecommunications Act 1991 Reform
What's this about?
The NSW Government Telecommunications Act 1991 (Telco Act) establishes the NSW Government Telecommunications Authority (NSW Telco Authority) and the Government Radio Network (GRN).
The GRN provides operational communications to support public safety agencies and other entities that provide critical public services.
The Telco Act is over 25 years old and no longer reflects the NSW Telco Authority’s functions or its operating environment.
In early 2018, NSW Government agencies were consulted to refine the reforms to the Telco Act.
The community is invited to provide feedback on the draft Bill and the additional reform outlined in the Information and Issues Paper.
