Topic: Environment

National Parks and Wildlife Service is seeking feedback on proposed changes to plans of management to allow horse riding in some wilderness areas.

What's this about?

In April 2014, the NSW Government commenced a trial of horse riding in wilderness areas within Kosciuszko National Park, Mummel Gulf National Park, Deua National Park and Monga National Park.

The government now proposes changing the relevant plans of management to enable horse riding to continue in these specific wilderness locations.

The proposed horse riding in the wilderness amendments to plans of management are now available for:

  • Far South Coast Escarpment Parks
  • Kosciuszko National Park
  • Mummel Gulf National Park and State Conservation Area.

This provides an important opportunity for members of the community to have a say in the future management directions for these parks.
