Machine used to diamond grind the concrete pavement

What's this about?

Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has carried out pavement grinding on two separate sections of the Pacific Highway near Valla. The work is part of a trial that aims to determine whether pavement grinding reduces road noise levels.

In June 2018, prior to pavement grinding being carried out, the community was invited to participate in an initial survey to produce a baseline noise perception survey.

As part of this trial and following completion of the work, the RMS is carrying out a second survey.

The outcomes of the survey will better inform the RMS about the community’s perceptions of current tyre noise as a result of the pavement grinding work.
