What's this about?

The draft NSW Greyhound Welfare Code of Practice is intended to provide a single set of enforceable welfare standards that all greyhound racing industry participants in NSW must meet.

Many of the standards in the code reflect existing practice in the greyhound racing industry.

Public consultation has been launched in conjunction with a series of information sessions across regional and metropolitan NSW. This will ensure that industry participants and other stakeholders have a voice.

The NSW Government commits to:

  • promoting and protecting the welfare of greyhounds
  • safeguarding the integrity of greyhound racing and betting
  • maintaining public confidence in the greyhound racing industry.

The feedback received will ensure the delivery of a Greyhound Welfare Code of Practice that will have a lasting impact for the greyhound racing industry in NSW.
