What's this about?

The NSW Law Reform Commission has been asked to review and report on the desirability of changes to the Guardianship Act 1987 (NSW).

As part of the review, the Law Reform Commission is seeking feedback on three final question papers that cover:

  1. safeguards, procedures and protections for people under guardianship
  2. medical and dental treatment and restrictive practices
  3. any remaining issues such as how guardianship laws interact with Commonwealth Laws like the NDIS; how to best support the needs of Aboriginal people and people from multicultural communities; and whether the language of the law is out-dated.
