Rock Fishing Safety Act

Topic: Community

The Office of Emergency Management is seeking feedback from the community on the implementation of the new Rock Fishing Safety Act.

What's this about?

The Rock Fishing Safety Act 2016 requires people to wear lifejackets whenever they are rock fishing within declared high-risk areas. The first high-risk area that has been declared is Randwick LGA.

The introduction of the Act has been accompanied by a range of compliance activities and a rock fishing safety awareness campaign. Community feedback is now sought on the implementation of these measures over the last 12 months.
