To support farmers and regional communities, and reduce the long-term impact of the drought, the NSW Government is investing in dams, pipelines and weirs in priority catchments across NSW. Additionally, the NSW Government is fast-tracking Regional Water Strategies that will reduce the long-term impact of drought.
Each regional water catchment area has unique characteristics. With increasing climate variability, any investment in infrastructure must ensure ongoing water security during times of drought and flood. The map below shows water catchment areas in NSW.
Fast-tracked regional water strategies
The fast-tracked Regional Water Strategies will provide long-term policy, planning and infrastructure solutions to ensure water security for communities, industry and the environment across regional NSW.
The Strategies will be published in late 2020.
