The findings of the 2022 Young People in Custody Health Survey Report reiterates that most young people in custody come from highly disadvantaged backgrounds, with many having experienced involvement with the child protection system, intergenerational incarceration, trauma, neglect and abuse.
Like the previous reports, the current edition will be a valuable resource, detailing the social disadvantage and identifying the support and health and well-being needs of young people in custody in NSW. Results will inform policy development and service delivery enhancements both within Youth Justice NSW and throughout the community.
