Transfer to Forensic Hospital Procedure

This procedure is used when a young person has been assessed under section 55 of the Mental Health (Forensic Provisions) Act 1990  and needs to be transferred from a Youth Justice Centre to a forensic hospital.

This procedure applies to young people in custody who are patients at a Youth Justice Centre.

A juvenile correctional patient is a young person who has been transferred from a Youth Justice Centre to the forensic hospital (Bronte Adolescent Forensic Unit) while serving a sentence, or while on remand, and who have not been classified by the Tribunal as an involuntary patient.
