Recreational fishing

When fishing in NSW waters, both freshwater and saltwater, you are required by law to pay the NSW Recreational Fishing Fee and carry a receipt showing the payment of the fee.

Stay safe while you are on the water or on the rocks by following NSW fishing laws and safety measures such as wearing a lifejacket.

There are rules for where and when you must wear a lifejacket and what type. In some declared areas of NSW, it compulsory by law to wear an approved lifejacket while rock fishing.
