Aboriginal Affairs NSW major sponsorships
Aboriginal Affairs NSW provides sponsorship for several major events on a case-by-case basis, in accordance with the NSW Government’s Sponsorship Policy.
These sponsorships recognise the importance of major events in supporting Aboriginal communities and people to celebrate culture together.

Reconciliation NSW
Location: NSW
Sponsorship amount: $136,000
Period: April 2026 - December 2026
Summary: Reconciliation NSW aims to create a reconciled, just and equitable society for all, working to inform, support and inspire people to engage in reconciliation across New South Wales. The sponsorship agreement includes workshops for Local Reconciliation Groups around NSW, the Schools Reconciliation Challenge 2026 and promotional activities around National Reconciliation Week.
Yabun Festival 2026
Location: Victoria Park, Camperdown, Sydney, NSW
Event date: 26 January 2026
Sponsorship amount: $55,000
Summary: Yabun Festival celebrates and showcases the strength, resilience, and culture of Aboriginal communities across the greater Sydney region and New South Wales.
The sponsorship agreement includes an Aboriginal Affairs NSW stall and promotion of AANSW at the festival, in the media and online.

NSW Koori Knockout Rugby League Carnival 2025
Location: Tamworth, NSW
Event dates: 3-6 October 2025
Sponsorship amount: $250,000
Summary: One of the largest Aboriginal community events in Australia, the NSW Koori Knockout showcases the athletic talents of Aboriginal men, women and young people. It is a significant celebration of Community and Culture for Aboriginal people in NSW.
Aboriginal Affairs NSW is the Platinum Partner of this event and Naming Rights Partner of the Men’s Competition. The sponsorship agreement includes an Aboriginal Affairs NSW stall, branding opportunities at the event and online, and promotion during live broadcasts.

Freedom Rides 60th Anniversary Gala Dinner 2025
Location: Sydney, NSW
Event date: 12 February 2025
Sponsorship amount: $90,000
Summary: Aboriginal communities from NSW came together to acknowledge the 60th Anniversary of the Freedom Rides at a special gala dinner in Sydney organised by the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council.
This significant event celebrated the importance of the 1965 Freedom Rides in the fight against racial injustices. The dinner honoured the legacy and courage of the original Freedom Riders.

Aboriginal Men’s Health and Identity Gathering 2025
Location: Murrook Culture Centre, Williamtown (Worimi Country)
Event date: March 2025
Sponsorship amount: $40,000
Summary: This event brought together approximately 120 Aboriginal men from across NSW for four days of yarning and workshops on men’s health, leadership and wellbeing.

Cooee Festival 2025
Location: Shalvey, Western Sydney (Darug Country)
Event date: 24 May 2025 (cancelled due to severe weather)
Sponsorship amount: $30,000
Summary: Cooee Festival, organised by Link-Up (NSW) Aboriginal Corporation, is the biggest Aboriginal community event held in western Sydney. It brings together Mob to celebrate survival, culture and music. This year’s event was cancelled due to severe weather. The event organisers are reimbursing AANSW for any unspent funds due to the cancellation.
