Blak Cede café continues to grow and blossom with Aboriginal Women at the forefront
An Aboriginal run café located in Nowra is helping First Nations Women through employment opportunities and on the job learning.

The Blak Cede café has grown after receiving a $30,000 grant from the Minister’s Discretionary Fund (MDF). The grant has allowed them to employ more First Nations women.
Shaylee Meehan from Blak Cede said “Having received the grant we have been able to expand our menu, purchase new furniture and that has attracted more business for us. Having the café come to life has created more business and that means we can help more “Blak Community Women”.
“We currently employ around 10 people which is really great for us and also our community, people come in and see the same faces and we get to know everyone. We have been able to help build on an already great community.”
“The grant has also helped us expand our doors to next door. We will be even larger than we are now soon. And coming back to how we are helping our community. With the larger space we can offer more employment which will impower more women.”
