Community Cabinet heads to St George
NSW Premier Mike Baird today announced the NSW Government will host the next Community Cabinet in Hurstville on Monday 19 May.
Mr Baird said he had accepted an invitation from Member for Rockdale John Flowers and Member for Oatley Mark Coure to host NSW Government Ministers in Sydney’s Southern St George region.
“Community Cabinet provides an important vehicle for us to hear people’s concerns first hand before we can get to work to address them,” Mr Baird said.
“We are already delivering for the region. The NSW Government has fully funded the new $39 million St George Hospital emergency department, which is almost complete.
“The Opal card has also been rolled out on all Sydney Trains stations, providing cheaper fares and convenience for customers. We’re also delivering station upgrades and new car parks, including access upgrades at Oatley and new parking spaces at Rockdale.
“Residents can thank the efforts of Mr Flowers and Mr Coure who advocated for Community Cabinet to be held in Hurstville next month,” Mr Baird said.
Mr Flowers said he was delighted the Premier had accepted an invitation to host the forum in the St George region to hear from locals first hand.
“This is great news for our community and will give community groups and residents a chance to have a say on issues that matter to them,” Mr Flowers said.
Mr Coure said he was looking forward to updating the community on the progress that has been made since 2011, as well as hearing from locals on issues important to them.
“I will certainly be taking the opportunity to not only talk to the Ministers but to take them to places and community groups that can benefit from their assistance,” Mr Coure said.
Community Cabinet will be held on Monday 19 May 2014 between 6:30pm and 8pm at Club Central Hurstville, 2 Crofts Avenue, Hurstville.
