Fair Work Commission Decision
The NSW Government welcomes the decision from the Fair Work Commission to suspend Monday’s planned rail strike.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian thanked the community and public transport customers for their patience during a week of uncertainty over train travel.
“This outcome allows our public transport staff to be properly consulted over a fair and reasonable deal for workers at Sydney and NSW Trains,” Ms Berejiklian said.
“I know the 9,500 workers on our rail system always put our customers first and I’m glad they will be allowed the opportunity to continue this on Monday.
“As I have made clear, the NSW Government has and will continue to adhere to its fiscally responsible wages policy.”
Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said Sydney Trains will continue to work with unions to secure the best agreement for workers.
“I am hopeful the result will be the best outcome for the 9,500 employees of the rail network and the 1.3 million people who rely on the rail system every day,” Mr Constance said.
