New Secretary for Department of Industry
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian, today announced that Simon Draper, currently Deputy Secretary, Economic Policy at the Department of Premier and Cabinet will commence in the role of Secretary of the NSW Department of Industry on Monday, 19 March 2018.
“Since its election in 2011 the NSW Government has restored the State’s economy, rebuilt infrastructure, consolidated the AAA credit rating and developed a plan to create 1 million more jobs by 2036,” Ms Berejiklian said.
“Simon Draper’s extensive experience across the private sector in the energy and infrastructure fields, combined with his public policy roles means he is well-placed to lead the Department of Industry’s ongoing contribution to the NSW Government’s economic agenda.”
NSW Minister for Industry, Niall Blair said that Mr Draper’s previous commercial experience, combined with a strong understanding of good public sector practice is yet another sign that NSW is open for business.
“Sydney is hosting business leaders from across the ASEAN region over the weekend who have all come to see and hear how our strong economic management is transforming the lives of people across the State,” Mr Blair said.
“I look forward to working with Simon Draper and the leadership team of the Department of Industry to consolidate the work done by Simon Smith, and Mark Paterson before him, to ensure a strong economic future for everyone in NSW.”
