NSW Government's Drought Stimulus Package providing $4.9 million for Kelso Industrial Land
An additional five hectares of industrial precinct, providing the infrastructure local businesses need to expand, attract new investment and generate jobs, will be developed at Kelso Industrial Park at Bathurst, thanks to $4.9 million in funding from the NSW Government’s Drought Stimulus Package.
The Kelso Industrial Land Development Project is part of the NSW Government’s $170 million Drought Stimulus Package.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro and Member for Bathurst Paul Toole visited the Kelso Industrial Land Development Project site which will support up to an additional 79 jobs in Bathurst when complete.
Mr Barilaro said the funding would allow for the five hectare expansion of the already in-demand Kelso Industrial Park, with the project delivering critical lead-in infrastructure to support the expanded site, including construction of roads, stormwater drainage and connection to critical services such as water and sewerage.
“The new Kelso Industrial Land Development Project will facilitate business development and attraction within the Bathurst region, supporting industry growth and generating employment,” Mr Barilaro said.
“I thank Bathurst Regional Council for their commitment to this project and congratulate them on their successful grant, which will provide an invaluable boost to the economy and local residents of the drought-affected Bathurst region.”
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said the shovel ready project would provide the infrastructure industry needed to expand and become more efficient.
“This project is ready to go, and its construction will generate immediate economic activity and jobs here in Bathurst, which is doing it tough because of the drought,” Mr Toole said.
“This is exactly the type of project the NSW Government wants to back through the Drought Stimulus Package to keep regional economies moving.”
Bathurst Regional Council will contribute $920,000 to the Kelso Industrial Land Development Project, which will cost $5.83 million in total.
Bathurst Regional Council Mayor Graeme Hanger OAM said the NSW Government’s Drought Stimulus Package would provide the Kelso Industrial Park and wider Bathurst region with a key piece of strategic infrastructure and stimulate the local economy.
“This project will provide work during construction and beyond for local workers and suppliers across the Bathurst region, who will spend money in local shops and reinvest earnings in their businesses, which is great news for our economy,” Mr Hanger said.
“I thank the NSW Government for their significant financial support for this project.”
