Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello said the inaugural summit will bring together representatives from academia, industry, government and science, to explore opportunities for the use of AI across agencies.
“AI has the potential to transform service delivery and make life easier for people, and this summit is an opportunity to learn from some of the country’s top experts,” Mr Dominello said.
“This summit will identify next steps for the use of AI in NSW, and test the NSW AI ethics framework and AI Strategy, both of which are being developed.
“AI is already being used to manage the NSW train fleet, predict the future location of bushfires and predict water pipe failure. Any use or expansion of AI must be subject to the right oversight mechanisms, including privacy, to prevent misuse.”
It is estimated that automation, including AI could deliver a $2.2 trillion boost to Australia’s national income between 2015 and 2030 due to productivity gains.
The summit will be held at NSW Parliament. Additional details will be provided in due course.
