Premier opens $10 million Dalwood child and family health building

NSW Premier and Manly MP Mike Baird today officially opened the new Dalwood Child and Family Health building, Nyininngi, at Seaforth.

The $10 million purpose-built centre will become a major hub for child and family health services on the Northern Beaches, and is the first completed component in the redevelopment of the Northern Beaches Health Service.

Central to the redevelopment is the creation of a network of new health facilities on the Northern Beaches focused on prevention and early intervention alongside traditional hospital-based care.

“The new Nyininngi Child and Family Health building extends the proud legacy of Dalwood providing exceptional children’s services to parents and families on the Beaches,” Mr Baird said.

“Prevention and early intervention can transform the health of a local community and we’re acknowledging that by investing $100 million in community health facilities.

“The new facility is designed to work closely with the Northern Beaches Hospital, scheduled to open in 2018, and other community health centres being built at Brookvale and Mona Vale and the redeveloped Mona Vale Hospital.”

Services moving into the new facility include community paediatrics, paediatric occupational therapy services, and paediatric speech pathology services.

They complement services already on site including the Dalwood Spilstead Centre, the Family Care Centre and Early Childhood Parenting Support Service.

Northern Beaches Child and Family Health Services Dr Michael Zilibowitz said: “It consolidates these services in one modern, purpose-built location that provides the best environment for treatment of our clients.”
